Retrieved on 2012-02-15.〕 The treatise sets forth the basic doctrines and describes the faith and practices that have distinguished Free Will Baptists since the early eighteenth century. Church government in the association begins and ends at the congregational level. Local congregations voluntarily join local, state and national associations in order to facilitate cooperation in such endeavors as missions, supporting association colleges, and new church planting. The Treatise, therefore, is not binding as such, on the member congregations, but rather the opposite is true.
